A death in our group

I just learned from Stephanie's blog that Natalie from Nattie Writes lost her battle with cancer yesterday. As Stephanie said, "She will be sorely missed. Please take a moment and pray for her son and daughter" (thanks for the correction).

Nattie's list of books is on our sidebar, but she won't be reading any of our books now. To learn something about [Nattie]: (1) re-read her book post describing her five choices, (2) read one of those five, (3) look at her blog, with her final posts dictated to her daddy, and (4) keep her in our thoughts and prayers today, as we lose one of our own. Nattie was only 33 years old.

Thank you for posting this Bonnie. I wanted to do it yesterday but never really found the strength. Natalie was my friend, one of my closest friends, my sister at heart. She was so amazing. Life was not very kind to Natalie over the last few years, but she never lost her light, her hope or her sense of humor. I have hope of seeing her again in heaven. It's what keeps me off the floor today.

Thanks for posting, Bonnie. It's a lovely post. I am going to miss Nattie until I see her again in heaven. I've known her for many years, and she taught me the word "abibliophobia"! I had already gotten one of her list books to read for this challenge, and I'm sticking with my choice. I'm also continuing with her Newbery challenge.

oh and a correction-
Natalie has a son and a daughter. Jonathan and Anna. Jonathan has Aspergers and some agression problems that Natalie was always fighting with his school about (I swear a crappier school system in dealing with Special needs I have never seen).
Certainly prayers for Jonathan as he enters school next fall would be appreciated. And for his father to step up and actually fight for his son's rights.

OH NO. I've been following her blog carefully, but not commenting, because I just didn't know what to say!! Her poor kids! I'm just heartsick about it.

Let's all read a book from Nattie's List.

I didn't know Nattie either until this challenge. It's so very sad. I am also 33 and a Mom. I can't imagine what her family must be going through. Very sorry.

I'm sorry to hear about Nattie. Life seems so unfair sometimes.

May she now be at peace!

Oh, dear. We will miss her, especially when August 1 comes around.

Why don't we think of something to post about her then? I'm thinking we could pick a book from her book list and read it in honor of her. I'd love to read An Amateur Marriage by Anne Tyler, and then blog about it. I don't know Nattie personally, but in that way, we could share the books she likes. :)

I just came over here to see if anyone had posted this. I am glad it has been shared. I attended the memorial service this past weekend, and books were mentioned a thousand times.

I found this blog only a few days ago, and had only the time to bookmark it at that point. Now I come back to register for the challenge, and see the sad announcement. By scrolling through, I can sense that some others may pick up Nattie's books now, to see what things about herself she wanted to share with everyone here.

I didn't know Nattie really, but I enjoyed her blog. She was a great woman and I was sad to hear about her passing.
I read Fool's Puzzle by Earlene Fowler by her earlier this year and I can only recommend it. It was an awesome book! I think I'll continue this series later this year in honor of Nattie.
